It was another eventful week in the Europe for Nigerians.

After scoring four goals for Blackburn Rovers penultimate week, Yakubu Aiyegbeni found the going a bit tougher against Sunderland as he fired blanks.

The headlines were instead hogged by two of Aiyegbeni’s younger compatriots, Victor Moses and Brown Ideye.

Moses put in a man of the match performance for Wigan Athletic against West Bromwich Albion while Brown got the winner for Dynamo Kyiev against SK Karpaty L'viv.

SuperSport.com runs the rules on the performances of Nigerians in Europe at the weekend.
Arsenal 1-0 Everton (Emirates Stadium)

Long-term injury casualty, Victor Anichebe is still out and in his absence; the Toffees capitulated to 0-1 reverse to high flyers, Arsenal.

Everton remain in mid-table after this latest setback.

Norwich City 4-2 Newcastle United (Carrow Road)

Shola Ameobi was on from the start for Newcastle United in this entertaining game against the newly-promoted side that produced six goals.

The 30-year-old however failed to score as his side found themselves at the wrong end of an emphatic defeat.

Youngster, Sammy Ameobi was given a nine-minute run out by the Newcastle manager, Alan Pardew as the Geordies battled to restore some pride late on.

Swansea City 2-0 Fulham (The Liberty Stadium)

Super Eagles midfielder, Dickson Etuhu put in an average performance for Fulham in this loss to the newly-promoted Swansea.

The Eagles' star was on for all 90 minutes as the new boys romped to a comfortable win at the expense of the former Uefa Europa League finalists.

West Bromwich Albion 1-2 Wigan Athletic (The Hawthorns)

Victor Moses put in a five-star showing in this game as Wigan Athletric recorded a priceless victory that helped in easing their relegation worries.

The 20-year-old scored a spectacular goal on 37 minutes and won a penalty which was converted by Jordi Gomez, 12 minutes after the restart.

The speedstar who was a thorn in the flesh of the WBA defenders all afternoon had a chance to double his tally but saw a cheeky effort stopped by Ben Foster.

Peter Osaze Odemwingie had great chances to score for WBA on 12 and 34 minutes but wasted both opportunities.

The 30-year-old has scored just once this season.

Sunderland 2 Blackburn Rovers 1 (Stadium of Light)

After bagging four goals penultimate weekend, Yakubu Aiyegbeni experienced a quieter afternoon at the Stadium of Light.

Blackburn grabbed an early lead but capitulated badly in the final six minutes and saw themselves dragged deeper into the relegation dog fight.

Serie A (Italy)
Bologna 2-2 AC Milan (Stadio Dall’Ara)

Taye Taiwo’s unhappy start to life in Serie A continued as he failed to make even the bench in the Rossoneri’s 2-2 draw at Bologna.

The 26-year-old has played just twice for the champions in Serie A this term and has also yet to bag his first goal for the club.

Cagliari 0-0 AC Parma (Stadio Sant'Elia)

Obiora Nwankwo was left out of the squad by the AC Parma gaffer, Franco Colomba as the Crociati battled to a goalless draw at the Stadio Sant'Elia.

The 20-year-old has been used sparingly this season by Colomba with just one Serie A appearance under his belt.

Internazionale 2-0 Fiorentina (Stadio Giuseppe Meazza)

Joel Obi was not listed by the Inter coach Claudio Ranieri as the former European champions arrested their slide on the log and temporarily moved up to 9th after a 2-0 success against the Florence outfit.

Lecce 2-3 SS Lazio (Stadio Via del Mare)

Christian Obodo is fast becoming a regular under the SS Lazio trainer, Edoardo Reja as he enjoyed yet another 90 minutes of action at the Stadio Via del Mare.

The hard working midfielder was, as usual, full of running against Lazio but saw his side succumb to a painful defeat in front of their home supporters.

Obodo has played 12 Serie A games for Lecce this term but is yet to score his first goal of the
season.

The other Nigerian on the books of Lazio, striker, Ofere Edwards failed to get a look in.

La Liga (Spain)

Getafe 1-0 Granada (Coliseum Alfonso Pérez)

Ikechukwu Uche was on for all 90 minutes but failed to score as Granada lost away from home.
Odion Ighalo was also on from the start for the newly-promoted side but was hurled off after 69 minutes by the Granada coach, Fabri.

Ligue 1 (France)
Valenciennes 1-0 HSC Montpellier (Stade du Hainaut)

John Utaka’s Montpellier was given a rude reality check by lowly Valenciennes as they crashed to a shock defeat that saw them surrender top spot.
Utaka was uncharacteristically quiet in this game despite being on for the entire duration.

Lille OSC 2-0 Dijon FCO (Stadium Lille Métropole)

Mickael Landreau continues to enjoy the confidence of the Lille manager, Rudi Garcia while Super Eagles' goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama continues to bide his time on the bench.
Normal service resumed yet again as the Super Eagles numero uno endured yet another inactive afternoon as Lille posted yet another victory on the board.

Bundesliga (Germany)
FC Nurnberg 0-2 TSG Hoffeiheim (easyCredit-Stadion)

For the second week running, Super Eagles' winger, Chinedu Obasi was not listed by the Hoffenheim coach, Holger Stanislawski following his disciplinary problems.
In the winger’s absence, Hoffenheim won comfortably and climbed up to 9th on the standings.

FSV Mainz 0-0 Hamburg SV (Coface Arena)

Anthony Ujah was an unused substitute for Mainz in this hard fought contest that finished in a stalemate.
Mainz are just above the relegation zone in the standings.

Belgian Pro League (Belgium)
Kortrijk 1-0 Westerlo (Guldensporenstadion)

Little-known Nigerian midfielder, Moses Adams continues to enjoy regular action for Westerlo this term.
The 25-year-old was on from start to finish as his side went down 0-1 to a fired up Kortrijk at the Guldensporenstadion.

Club Brugge 1-0 STVV (Jan Breydelstadion)
Striker Joseph Akpala was thrown in as a late second half substitute but he failed to reproduce his heroics from last season when he scored a last minute winner against Westerlo at Het Kuipje.
Brugge are in second place, two points adrift of the leaders, Anderlecht following their one-nil success against the STVV club.

Dutch Eredivisie (Holland)
VVV Venlo 2-0 Roda JC Kerkrade (Seacon Stadion - De Koel -)

Ahmed Musa starred as Venlo claimed important points at home.
Uche Nwofor was an unused substitute as Venlo bounced back from last week’s embarrassing 0-7 humiliation suffered against Heracles Almelo.

PSV 1-0 NAC Breda (Phillips Stadion)
Youngster Rabiu Ibrahim was not listed as PSV as Fred Rutten’s side battled to a 1-0 victory over NAC Breda.

Premier League (Ukraine)
SK Karpaty L'viv 0 Dynamo Kiev 1 (Stadion 'Ukraina')

Super Eagles' forward, Brown Ideye claimed the winner in the 88th minute of this hard fought contest.
Kiev also have two other Nigerians, Lukman Haruna and Ayila Yusuf.

Axpo Super League (Switzerland)
Neuchatel Xamax 1-1 Basel (La Maladiere)

After scoring last week against FC Lausanne Sport, Kalu Uche found the going a bit tougher as he fired blanks against Manchester United’s conqueror in the UEFA Champions League, FC Basel.
The former Almeria Man was however full of running in the game, contributing hugely to the Xamax cause before he was eventually substituted in second half stoppage time.
